sema / σῆμα / signo / σημεῖον / semeion / milagre / túmulo / prisão / traços / vestígios / marcas / sinais

gr. σῆμα, sema = signo, sinal. Usado nas epopeias gregas neste sentido, ganhou sentido teológico como o gr. σημεῖον, semeion = milagre, sinal milagroso.

To semeion (cf. also to sema) means a mark or sign, trace or track; an omen, wonder, or portent; a signal (to put to sea, engage in work or battle, etc.); a standard or flag (cf. he semeia); a landmark, boundary or limit; a device on a shield or figurehead on a ship; a signet on a ring; a figure, image, written character, etc. I shall generally render the word as "sign" or "trace."
