Pois a percepção conhece (ginoskein) as atividades dos perceptíveis ao ser afetada por elas, mas a opinião também conhece seu ser (ousiai); pois tem preconcebido (proeilephe) seus conceitos (logoi). Portanto, para que ele possa mostrar que o ser dos perceptíveis é gerado, ele começou seu argumento a partir de que eles eram objetos de opinião.
