gr. πρᾶξις, prâxis (he): ação. Latim: actio. Atividade imanente de um sujeito (oposta à ação transitiva, que se exerce sobre um objeto), v. poiein = fazer; prattein: agir (apenas no dialeto ático; nos outros: prássein). Substantivado: tò práttein: o agir.


Aristotle   defines the being-there of human beings as a ζωή πρακτική τις τοῦ λóγον ἔχοντος, “a life, specifically one that is πρακτική, of such a being as has language.” We must attempt an interpretation of this definition in order to procure a concrete view of what Aristotle understands by the being and being-there of human beings. It must proceed in a double direction. Insofar as ζωή πρακτική is determined as ψυχῆς ἐνέργεια, we will (1) pursue the meaning and the concrete context which is meant by ἐνέργεια as well as (2) the context meant by ψυχή. Selon Aristote, la prâxis est « à elle-même sa propre fin » (Éthique à Nicomaque VI 5, 1140b6). Cela ne signifie pas cependant qu’elle ne soit pas dépendante de l’extériorité : l’action concerne bien en effet pour Aristote les « choses particulières » (VI, 1141b16), c’est-à-dire les circonstances singulières dont le phrónimos, l’homme prudent, doit tenir compte. En soulignant par conséquent que dans l’action « la nécessité vient de l’extérieur », l’interlocuteur ne contrevient pas à la doctrine aristotélicienne de la prâxis.
